The 6th fresh local dates festival 2021 with over 80 farms participating is celebrated at Souq Waqif. The festival will carry on for two weeks, starting from 15th July to 30th July, and welcomes guests from 4 pm to 10 pm every day. The idea behind the event is to give the agricultural industry shape through palm tree farms and supporting the local farmers. The Head of the Department of Agricultural Guidance and services, Department of Agricultural affairs of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) Ahmed A Yafei said that this year will be different as people will get to see a large production as last year there was no event in Souq Waqif.

Khalas, Al Shishi, Al Khanizi, Barhi, Iraqi, Silji, Sufri, Nabt Saif, Al Sawafi, Rutab and Khurdi are some of the various kinds of fresh dates featured at the festival.
