Meet the Chinese Giant Pandas in Middle East

The pandas Jing Jing and Shi Hai were brought from China and are now a symbol of friendship between both countries.

They have been given beautiful new names, which are almost close to the older ones. Jing Jing, the male panda (shiny Crystal) has been given the Arabic name Suhail which also means star in the sky whereas Si Hai, the female panda (four seas) has got her Arabic name Thuraya which means bight cluster of stars. These names have been approved by the Emiri Diwan as they have beautiful meanings in Qatari culture.
